Individual Development Planning

An individual development plan (IDP) is a way to assist individuals in career and personal development. Its primary purpose is to help you reach short and long-term career goals, as well as improve current job performance. It should be looked at like a partnership between the individual and the career coach. It involves preparation and continuous feedback.

Individual development planning gives you the opportunity to:

  • Establish your development requirements to increase your capability in your current role, and
  • Establish development activities to support you in achieving your career goals.

“We spend more time planning for a weekend away or an overseas holiday than we do planning for a career that will last most of our life.”

  • I've been working with Mark for about 3 months.  He is a patient leader who guides and facilitates to achieve purpose.  I love his style and will keep working with him as long as I can.
